VERY cherry [adj]:
so fresh it has surpassed the current moment and dropped in straight from the future.
Multi-instrumental duo VERY CHERRY blends EDM, classical, jazz, Latinx, hip hop, and more into a totally original dance experience. Described as a "genre-melting rave jazz symphony," it's human music from the future.
VERY CHERRY pairs Simon Lott’s high-octane percussion with David Polk’s live saxophone, classical piano, and electric guitar, all layered over fully original, textural EDM compositions and beats. Building on 20 years of collaboration, “Context Killer” (Lott) and “Gahdlyke” (Polk) continue to evade the status quo with Very Cherry, their latest incarnation and most unique project yet.
Infinitely evolving in its dynamic blend of composition & improvisation, VERY CHERRY is designed to continuously push the boundaries of modern music. In the hands of two of New Orleans’ most innovative and technically-skilled musicians, disparate musical influences become an explosive tour de force of rapturous deep listening and booty-shaking bliss.

About the band

Simon Lott has been making music professionally since the age of 13. Building on a foundation of instrumental jazz, Lott’s work has expanded to encompass composition and improvisation across a wide spectrum of musical styles.
A full-time drummer, Lott is regarded as a fixture of the New Orleans musical landscape. He has played with greats including Jon Batiste, Ivan Neville, Ellis Marsalis, Germaine Bazzle, Lucien Barbarin, and dozens more, breathing innovation and depth into every collaboration. In the words of The Wild Magnolias’ Willie Tee: “THIS DUDE IS DRUMMING FROM THE FUTURE!”

David Polk is a multi-instrumentalist whose career has spanned genres including jazz, hip-hop, EDM, funk, and more. Trained in classical saxophone at LSU’s School of Music, he is a self-taught classical pianist, guitarist, audio producer, and orchestral composer.
As a performer, Polk seeks to dynamically blur the lines between DJ and musician through his original EDM beats augmented by live performance on saxophone, piano, and guitar. With influences ranging from Chopin to Allen Toussaint to Jonny Greenwood, music is his all-consuming infinite task. Polk is a Louisiana native based in New Orleans.
